BERLIN

Therapy and Counselling in English, Spanish & Finnish

This is us

Our history of friendship

and working together

sets the tone of our space.

We are a collective of therapists who met while working at the same counselling practice 8 years ago. We'd all moved to Berlin from different parts of the world and quickly bonded as co-workers and friends.

Over the years practising and spending time together, we started talking about setting up our own space. A space where we could connect with each other and our clients that felt like another home. In 2023, we were fortunate to secure a beautiful space in Neukölln, serving the neighbourhoods Neukölln, Kreuzberg & Friedrichshain. It was the perfect home for Counselling Kollektiv Berlin. Our history of friendship, trust and working together sets the tone of our space.

Collectively, we bring expertise in various counselling modalities, gained over 15+ years of learning and practising overseas and in Germany. We offer therapy in different languages: English, Spanish and Finnish, and have lived experience of moving to Berlin and navigating the city as expats/migrants. We happily invite you into our space.
Matias Castagnola (Spanish/English)

I’m an Argentinian licensed Clinical Psychologist with specialisations in Substance Abuse disorders, Gestalt and Psychodrama. I offer individual and group counselling in Spanish and English in Berlin, as well as online sessions.

I began working on substance abuse clinical treatments in Argentina, in individual and group settings, more than ten years ago. For the last six years, I‘ve trained in Germany focusing on Gestalt and Psychodrama. These experiences have enriched my work perspective, in which an artistic and embodied point of view tends to offer new ways to look into oneself's symptoms.

Both my individual and group practice are supervised.

Philip Sheldon (English)

I am a british queer therapist and psychosexual counsellor, working extensively in the field for more than fifteen years. I work with both individuals and couples.

Therapy can be about grieving and reclaiming the parts of self that have been lost or taken away, both from a personal (familial) and a systemic (political) level.

If we see therapy, then, as a collaboration, our job is to find a way back to self. I look forward to collaborating with you.

Laura Brophy (English)

With a Master of Psychology (Clinical) from Australia, and extensive experience working in both public and private settings, I am specialised in treating various mental health issues.

I believe in healing through presence, understanding and compassion. Together we will work collaboratively to examine and understand your difficulties.

I am committed to an attitude of receptivity and authenticity – allowing myself to be taken and impacted by what emerges in a session and over the course of our process – so that we might find something new together.

Mikko Karhulahti (Finnish/English)

I am an accredited clinical psychologist, Gestalt therapist, and sex counsellor, working with individuals and couples in Finnish and English. I specialise in attachment theory, psychopathology, and sex therapy.

I view symptoms and disorders as meaningful and creative adjustments to a person’s environment and life context. Rather than pathologising these patterns, my work focuses on becoming aware of how they develop and take shape in the relational field, within the therapeutic encounter. This awareness can open space for choice, integration, and change.

Currently in training to become an EAGT-accredited supervisor (2025–2027). My work is supervised, and I am committed to the ethical code of the European Association for Gestalt Therapy (EAGT).
